OUR STORY

The word Acanto is the Italian translation of Acanthus, the flowery leaf featured prominently in Roman architecture. Famed architect Louis Sullivan used Acanthus in his distinctive terracotta ornamentation found on the facade of our historically landmarked building at 18 South Michigan Avenue in Chicago.

Steps from Millennium Park and along Chicago’s Cultural Mile, Acanto is the destination for those who appreciate Italian food, wine and an approachable, inviting dining experience. Whether you are dining pre- or post- concert, theatre show or visit to one of Chicago’s world class museums, catching up with friends over brunch or taking a break from a work day for lunch or happy hour, Acanto is the ideal setting.

LOCATION

Acanto is on the west side of Michigan Avenue between Monroe and Madison. The Crown Fountains in Millennium Park are across the street and The Art Institute of Chicago is one half block south.
